"You're perfectly capable of opening it yourself, luv", I called with a similar sound in my voice as I returned from the kitchen and leaned against the door frame. I had to check whether she was coming with someone or alone so I knew how much water to boil. A ginger head made her way into the apartment. She got her hair coloured since the last time I saw her. I don't even know which one is her real colour, because the last time it was black. How did she dye black into orange? Bleach then hair colour?"No, I've gone invalid for the free parking spots. Who's this?" Harry immediately noticed Sherlock. Of course.

Sherlock scanned the woman carefully as she enters the room. She is definitely not who he thought John would date. Quite frankly he found her a bit repelling. He deduced a few things, like she either is or used to be a alcoholic. "Sherlock Holmes" He introduced himself not bothering to stand or show any sign of politeness.

Harry snorted and sat down in my spot, meaning I'll have to sit next to Sherlock and risk Enterprise murder me from stealing him from her. Wait, that sounds weird."I thought you were straight", she said and peeked over at me."I am straight." "Hell, I'd go straight for you", Harry nodded at Sherlock. I shook my head."English Breakfast?" I asked returning to the kitchen."Two sugars. Clara likes green tea", Harry looked back at the door where another female figure appeared."Hello, John." Clara wasn't the usual type Harry dated. She wasn't slutty or pop punk, to be honest, she had that good girl aura around her, and they'd been dating for a while, so something might just happen between them. If only Harry tells mum and dad."Hey, Clary, how are you? Is Harry unnecessarily mean?" I asked and filled the kettle to the max."Only for you, hun." Harry called from her spot. I was just waiting for Sherlock to burst with either thirty questions or a five minute long deduction. I don't know which one I preferred.

Sherlock scanned them carefully again, his eyes trailing over them. So she must be Harriet, the sibling John mentioned and the one who had given him his phone. She definitely wasn't what Sherlock was expecting, he though she would be akin to her brother. Obviously not. He took in her image carefully before moving over to Clara. She seemed to be what Sherlock expected Harry to be when he first heard of her. She seemed kinder and seemed to be almost the polar opposite to Harry. But Sherlock could tell that they were quite mad about each other. An odd thing is this caring lark.

"Clara, this curly headed bloke right there is, I just discovered, John's boy. Which is odd because I know for sure that he was dating Lara Clark in college." Harry could talk, I almost forgot that. I ignored their voices as I made tea."Surely, you can't say that if he didn't tell you." Clara had such an innocent, soft voice. What the hell was she doing with Harry?"Johnny is as transparent as glass. When are you two planning on sharing the big news? Or is the relationship purely sex?" Harry kept on teasing. It was her style. She pokes until you burst then blames you for yelling.

Sherlock squinted at Harry, "John is merely a friend" He said, continuing to stroke Enterprise. Sherlock realised that he hasn't addressed anyone as his friend before, but he ignored that thought as he studied Harry and Clara more seeing what he could deduce from listening to their conversations.

"I don't think of you as a friend, merely as an arsehole who stole my cat", I joked and returned with tea; first for the girls, then for Sherlock and myself. I sat next to Sherlock then and Enterprise made small, irritated hisses. Lovely cat. "So what brings you here?" I asked crossing my legs. Harry shrugged."I dunno, it's not like you've been inviting me since the first week you arrived. I guess you just wanted to talk about the joys of being homosexual", she said and Clara choked on tea."Harry!" she warned her, but she didn't care, as the grin on her face didn't falter."He is not my boyfriend!" I protested.

Sherlock snorted slightly, took the tea and continued stroking Enterprise, after she had settled down. "She came to me, I didn't steal her" He said, now deciding there was nothing else of interest he could deduce from Harry or Clara. I returned to my state of thinking, just ready to respond if John spoke to me.

I rolled my eyes at the duo."But how are you two? How's married life?" I asked, at which Clara played with the finger on his head."Not much different than the 'living together' life. But at least we can now have sex under the God given right." At which I cringed, and Harry continued."But still, I don't think getting off will ever be by the Bible, considering we're, you know, abominations of the human race and we should be burned on a stake." "Stop, just stop right there", I shook my head and avoided looking at them."Sherlock, do you have a girlfriend?" Clara, being a dear, asked. I always liked her, but she should've got somebody better than Harry. She's an arsehole.

Sherlock watched them all talking with minimal interest, but when Clara's voice spoke it startled Sherlock a bit, and he looked up towards her. "Girlfriend? No, not my area" I replied, not replying with anymore interest than the amount I had while listening.

Yes, Clara glanced at me. Poor soul."Then, boyfriend, maybe?" she continued questioning him. She was such a lovely person, yes, she could drink, but when she was sober, she was the sweetest person on the planet. I listened for Sherlock's response on half a ear as Harry explained the tortures of planning a wedding and details of their honey-moon.

"No, I consider myself married to my work" Sherlock replied, with a small shake of his head. Relationships? Not Sherlock's thing. He finds them a distraction- Sentiment is a chemical defect on the losing side. He has been with people before, but never because he felt a connect to that person, it was more as an experiment for his writings.

John
"You can't live your life alone. People aren't islands, you know", still so gentle, so careful. Clara is the best person Harry could get. Speaking of, Harry stopped talking and focused on her bi girlfriend so Sherlock wouldn't seduce her away from her."People aren't islands", I joined in, "but some people, like Sherlock, are ships. They never stay still, never make connections." "John is writing poetry about Sherlock. I betcha ten quid he'll get together with Sherlock in the next decade." Harry told Clara."Next five years." Clara had a smirk on her face. Where did that come from?"Deal."

Sherlock glanced between the two, making a movement quite similar to an eye roll but not as pronounced. He stroked Enterprise, "I probably won't get a chance with the amount of women John is dating. He clearly has a date tonight" Sherlock nodded down to John's shoes as if that would explain it. It did, but just to himself, probably not the others.

"How did you- never mind." But the girls already gathered around me with different questions."Is she cute?" came from Clara."Is she hot?" said Harry."No, but is she smart?" Clara corrected herself."IS SHE HOT??" Harry kept on her road. I sighed."Her name is Sarah, she's one of the writers for the magazine I'm editing and she's a big fan of Sherlock's work."

Sherlock, not interested to hear about this Sariah- Sally- Sarah?, not even if she was a 'fan' of his work. Sherlock didn't write for his fans, he wrote for himself. Fans just interpretated everything in the book wrong. They were always wrong and it frustrated Sherlock often. He didn't actually know his book had been approved by publishers until Mycroft had told him.

"Why is he coming now? There is no need" Sherlock said as he recognised the footsteps going up the stairs. "Go away, Geoff" Sherlock called out just before Greg Lestrade knocked, his Personal Assisant Sally Donovan stood holding some papers. "Greg" "What?" "I am Greg" Greg said opening the door. He walked through the door, "Sherlock, I expected the next chapter over a week ago-" Greg started before spotting John. He looked at Sherlock confused.

Personally, I got enough of people barging in. I ignored them and continued with my work, not raising my head, not acknowledging they're even here.

"This is my friend John Watson," Sherlock introduced John to Greg, "John, meet Graham-" "Greg" "Greg Lestrade" Sherlock rarely does introductions, but he felt it was necessary as they would probably be seeing a large amount of each other. "Sherlock, as I was saying, I needed the last chapter a week ago" "I wanted John to edit it first" "Edit it?" "I am sure you are familiar with an Editor's job, Lestrade" Sherlock stuck to his last name, completely ignoring Sally.

"Hello", I greeted them, still not looking. The sooner they leave the better. I preferred my time alone with Sherlock. Yes, he could be an annoying prat, but editing his story required focus, big words and all, so most of the time we listened to silence.

Sally glanced at John and left Lestrade and Sherlock talking. "How did you get to edit his book? Did he follow you home?" She asked, leaning against the wall near the fireplace.

John
I nodded towards the wall she was leaning on."I'm currently living in 221c, for your information, so he can't exactly follow me home, he can lean out of a window and knock on mine."

"You know he isn't your friend, he doesn't have friends. He is like a physcopath, no, he is one. A freak. You'd better go find a new person to spend time with because he doesn't appreciate you being here" Sally rambled slightly.
