"Sherlock, do explain", John mimicked his tone.

"I needed someone to talk aloud to and didn't respond with stupid responses" Sherlock said.

"It's an inanimate object", John noticed.

"Exactly. It can't respond." Sherlock said.

"Mrs Hudson?" John called."How exactly are you sure that Sherlock won't kill you in your sleep?"

"I placed an alarm so you can hear him leave his room after nine o'clock at night" Mrs Hudson replied. "Oh, I got rid of that months ago, didn't you notice?" Sherlock asked, "Actually don't answer that, I already know the answer"

"You scare me sometimes. Often. Most of the times", John corrected himself twice.

"I don't intend to scare you. But sleep in peace I won't kill you. Well, not until I am bored anyway" Sherlock reassured him.

"You've been bored recently", John pointed out."Mrs Hudson you should watch out, I think you're his next victim."

"England would fall without Mrs. Hudson, so she is perfectly safe" Sherlock noticed.

"I have a feeling you practiced that line", John remarked and dug back into his papers.

"I do not practice lines" Sherlock noticed, "Repeating oneself is boring"

"Speaking of boring, guess which magazine I get to edit next. Politics. Bullshit." John didn't swear very often, but when he did, it was pleasing to hear.

"Politics are unimportant" Sherlock noticed, with a glance over to John.

"Very much so. So now I get to look at the crap they say all day long. Wonderful", John scoffed.

"Mm. Why do you edit that stuff, why not stick to other more interesting stuff?" Sherlock asked.

"It pays the bills", John shrugged.

"Other things can pay them too" Sherlock noticed.

"I don't get to choose and by picky", John said with an ending edge in his voice.

"Uh" Sherlock said, he returned to his position with his hands steepled below his chin.

I'd invited Harry to come visit me earlier, but she never did. Sibling love, what can you do. And spending time with Sherlock wasn't helping my attempts to bring her here. Currently placed in 221c, two of us, not really talking, not really keeping quiet, not really listening. Sherlock was a good person to hold the silence with."Care for a cuppa?" I asked, because that's what polite people do.

Sherlock looked up from his thoughtful daze, stroking Enterprise's head. "Please" He nodded, with a small smile. It didn't last long as the smile dropped as he returned to what he was thinking about originally before John had spoken.

Enterprise really adored Sherlock, which was peculiar, since neither Sherlock nor Enterprise seemed to be social types. Yet why did he spend time here, with me? I got up and headed towards the kitchen just in time to hear a curt knock on the door."John, dearest, open up." The tone was not matching the words. Sly, crude, just like its owner.
