Sophie and Hazel, numéro 1

Victoria
I stood in shock at what I had done before his collison with the ground made my mind click into action "Joey?" I shouted, dropping the gun and running over to him. I knelt down beside him, completely ignoring the puppy who was nudging at his hand with his nose. I can't believe what happened. What I had just done. I pulled a bandage from the near by first aid kit and wrapped it tightly around his wound. I wasn't sure if I was crying or not; I just knew my face felt cool and damp as I picked up Johann- my shoulder still weak and painful from beforehand. But I didn't pay much attention as I lowered him into the bed.

A jolt of pain moved up and down my body as I was lifted. I raise my head and take a sharp breath. I cry out as Victoria places me on the bed. The simple act of breathing was almost taken away from me.

Victoria
"I"m sorry, Joey, so so sorry" I kept mumbling, brushing my hand over his head to move his fringe. "I promise I never meant to do that. I'd never wish to hurt you" I continued, quietly, nuzzling into his side away from his wound.

I clench my fists at the pain and close my eyes tightly. I fight to keep my breathing even, which only results in almost hyperventilating. I allow myself to give in to the pain and cry aloud. "Vic...victoria", was all I managed to say before another moan escaped my lips.

Victoria
"Shush, don't talk, just focus on breathing." I said, not actually sure how to help him anymore; so gently took his clenched hand in mine and drew small circles on the back.

I did as she said. The feel of her hand on mine pulled me into the first stages of sleep. I turn my head to the side and silently look at Victoria.

Victoria
I looked down towards him, made a small sniffing noise before gently giving his hand a squeeze. "I'm sorry" I said, no louder than a whisper.

I give her a reassuring smile and gasp, "I know". Her face began to turn blurry and my eyes closed from heavy lids.

Victoria
I nuzzled my face into the crook of his neck, breathing in deeply. I was still cursing at myself mentally, knowing that was such a stupid thing to do.

I wake slightly from my dreamless sleep but keep my eyes closed. The pain, however, forced me to open them. It was a while before I remembered what had happened and then I searched with blurred eyes for Victoria.

Victoria
Johann had slept late, and I was hungry. I ate my fair share of food then went back into the tent, taking Joe's food with me. I sat back down beside him and held out the food, "Eat"

I take the food from her slowly. My throat was too dry to eat much so I push the plate away. "Where's Bolt?", I ask cautiously.

Victoria
"Alive." I muttered as a little nose nudged its way underneath Johann's hand looking for either fuss or food. I got a bottle of water and passed that to Joe.

I reached my hand out and stroke Bolt. Again, I slowly take the water and take a sip. I move my leg and bite my lip to stop from crying out.

Victoria
I sighed lightly, "Just stay still. We'll have to camp here a little while as you can't walk and I can't carry you" I said, reaching for one of his hands and entwining our fingers.

I laugh slightly. "I'm just surprised I didn't shoot myself this time". I stop laughing as the movement cause a jolt of pain.

Victoria
"I wouldn't sayvthis is an improvement in anyway" I said darkly, looking down towards him, avoiding to look at his leg.

I reach out a finger and pull Victoria's face around so that I could look into her eyes. "It was an accident", I say firmly. "And it doesn't change how much I love you".

Victoria
I scanned his face quickly, feeling my face flush deeply so I moved my face away from him. I stared at the floor, unsure how to reply.

I lean towards her and lightly kiss her cheek. The movement pulls the skin on my leg and I force myself not to react. "Did the bullet rip through to the other side?"

Victoria
"I'm not entirely sure, if it had then it didn't hit the puppy on its way out." I noticed, looking down towards his injured leg.

I prop myself up with one arm and lean over my leg. I carefully unwrap the bandages and feel the back of it. I feel undamaged skin and groan slightly. "The bullets still inside", I sigh.

Victoria
"So we need to get that out?" I asked, unsure, this was a bit out of my medical league- which is very limited anyway. "How?"
